Bio

I'm the administrative assistant to the chair of the Department of Entomology. I started out working at Langmuir Labs (neurobiology) in the late 60s and went on to the Department of Natural Resources and finally to the Department of Entomology, where I've worked for 30 years---(with two leaves to accompany my husband on his sabbaticals -- one to Stanford University and the other to Florence, Italy). Having worked for eight chairs I've never had a dull moment! I was here when the Vietnam War protests/demonstrations were going on--memories of students rushing over my MG (while I was still in the car) come to mind.

I have served on the Employee Assembly (chaired the Communications Committee), the University Assembly, the Cornell University Religious Works Advisory Board, and the Board on University Health Services.

My husband, Don Hartill, is a professor of physics/nuclear studies at Cornell University. We have a large extended family and have been over the years very active with mentoring young people.

My hobbies include photography -- weddings -- (awards include the 10th, 11th and 12th Annual Juried Photography Show "State of the Art Gallery" in Ithaca; first place winner in the Cornell/PawPrint contest, and a few honorable mentions), gardening, walking my Irish setter, and traveling -- especially to California to keep in close touch with my twin sister and brother.
