Most of the years after graduation have been spent teaching in Pasadena. I also briefly taught English in China. My home in Altadena is shared with a golden retriever, an Australian shepherd, and a miniature (approximately 180 pounds) Vietnamese pot belly pig. Events that have had the greatest impact include graduating from People's College of Law. I have remained involved and am currently Vice President. In 1995 I was an NGO delegate to the International Women's Conference in Beijing. In my latter years of teaching I became involved in NEA politics, serving several times as a delegate to the Representative Assembly and as chair of the Alternative Education subcommittee on State Council. After retirement I hope to be more politically active in progressive politics and to volunteer at KPFK radio station. My high school years were spent in a fog, but I have fond memories of Mrs. Glad and Mr. Tajima, both of whom were inspirational. Mrs. Glad's daughter is a restaurant reviewer for the Los Angeles Times. Mr.Tajima and his family continue to be active contributors to the community. |
