50th Reunion News/Updates
Last updated: December 6, 2016

Congratulations!

You've just passed (in June) a milestone: 50 years since graduating from Alhambra High School! And you also just concluded a highly successful 50th Reunion at the Balboa Bay Club on Sept 28-29. The reception on Friday night had about 70 in attendance, while the Saturday reunion dinner was attended by some 165, including 106 alumni! (See Who Attended) We're sorry to have missed those who couldn't come, as well as those we couldn't find. Please keep looking and keep us informed of any changes in your contact information. Who knows, there might be enough of us around in five years to do a 55th!!

Reunion Plans

Balboa Bay ClubWe talk to many not of our class who are surprised at how well we stay in touch and how active our reunions are. We think it's because we have developed and maintained friendships over the years. So it's only fitting that the theme for our 50th anniversary is "Friendships are Golden." Here are the essentials for our 50th Reunion Activity:

Theme: Friendships are Golden
Date: Saturday, September 29, 2012
Location: Balboa Bay Club (Commodore Room); 1221 (Pacific) Coast Highway Newport Beach, CA
Reception: 6:00 p.m. with Cash Bar
Dinner and Program: 7:00 p.m.
Socializing: 9:00-12:00 midnight
Dress: Nice (from dressy to nice casual... just remember this is a "special" occasion)
Parking at the Hotel: The BBC has agreed to extend discounted overnight valet parking from $28 to $20, and daily valet parking from $13 to $10. There is self parking in the back of the resort for $18 daily however BBC cannot revise this rate because it is monitored by the City of Newport Beach. Bottom line: if you're staying at the hotel, parking is $20 and if you're just coming to the reunion it's $10. If you're not staying at the hotel, you might want to consider car pooling.

NOTE: We are very near capacity with over 150 attending. Please send in your reservations as soon as possible! Tickets are $125 and money should be sent to:

Activities and detailed schedules are still being finalized, but you can count on the following:

Hotel Information

If you hoped to stay at the Balboa Bay Club and haven't yet made a reservation, you may be out of luck. However, call if you're still interested. See the Reunion Page for more information on hotel/motel accommodations. Be sure to let them know you're with the Alhambra High School 50th Reunion. Their phone numbers are: 888.845.2282; Toll-Free 888.705.5427.

There are a number of reasonably priced hotels close by. We have prepared a list of alternative lodging options, with a price range from $80 to $160/night. In addition you can search on travel services, such as Hotels.com to find specials for the nights of the reunion.

Please note that whether you stay at the hotel or not, parking is not included. On street parking is very limited, and valet parking at the BBC is $20 overnight (discounted from $28), and $10 daily (plus tip) (discounted from $13). If you're not staying at the hotel, you might want to consider car pooling.

Donation Opportunities

We have tried to keep the ticket cost as low as possible, so more of us can attend. However, the costs to organize a reunion of this type always end up exceeding our modest budget. If you are one of those who have been financially blessed, you might consider helping to augment our budget by making an additional donation.

Howard Wood and Diane Finn Dagestino are heading up the "Donation Opportunities" efforts and they would love to hear from you. At this point, possibilities include sponsoring a named table ($250), making cash contributions, providing mementos or gifts, and more.

Let's Not Miss Anyone!

PLEASE help us find members we've lost contact with! As of today, there are 176 that we've lost (they know where they are, but we don't!) If you have any information whatsoever, please send it to anyone on the committee ( Read Gilgen is currently keeping the database.)
